If you are taking the British Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification and have entered the stage of waiting for PRI, then your engineer license examination is halfway completed. PRI (Professional Review Interview) is the third and final stage of the CEng assessment. Learn The evaluator will conduct an interview with the applicant based on the PRR (professional review report) submitted by the applicant. If successfully passed, he will officially become a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Professional Review Interview
Applicants must demonstrate the following abilities during the PRI interview:
- Theoretical knowledge to solve new and existing technical problems and develop new analytical techniques
- Successfully apply knowledge to deliver innovative products and services or be responsible for complex engineering systems
- Responsible for the financial and planning aspects of a project, sub-project or task
- Lead and develop by managing, coaching or mentoring other professionals
- Effective interpersonal skills in communicating technical issues
- Understand the impact of their work on safety and sustainability and seek improvements where feasible
- Commitment to Professional Engineering Values
CEng Interview Preparation:
CEng interviewers should be prepared to answer questions about UK-SPEC 's five competency and commitment areas, as all 17 competency/commitment areas will be covered in some way. You must be prepared to answer questions about how you demonstrate your professional attitude, as described in Competency/Commitment E, which is “demonstrate personal commitment to professional standards, recognizing obligations to society, the profession and the environment”. While not all applicants will have specific examples of E5 - Acting ethically , interviewees should be able to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the following four fundamental principles:
a) Accuracy and rigor
b) Honesty and integrity
c) Respect life, law, environment and public interest
d) Responsible leadership; listening and providing information
Chartered Engineers will be able to demonstrate competence in all listed areas, but the depth and scope of their experience and abilities will vary depending on the nature and requirements of their role. They will demonstrate a degree of competence and commitment in each area (A1–E5) and they will demonstrate an appropriate balance of abilities to effectively carry out their duties as a Chartered Engineer.

B. Design, develop and solve engineering problems :
- Ability to apply engineering knowledge to design solutions to solve complex problems.

- Lead a team and coach others to achieve project goals.
D. Communication and Interpersonal Skills :
- Effectively communicate ideas and technical information to various stakeholders.
- Promote collaboration and maintain good professional relationships.
E. Professional Commitment :
- Demonstrate commitment to ethical standards, professional development and social responsibility.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the engineering community.
