BEAM Plus EB (Existing Building)
BEAM Plus EB (Existing Building)
BEAM Plus (Building Environmental Assessment Method) is a green building assessment standard in Hong Kong that aims to promote the design and operation of sustainable buildings. This standard was launched by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) in 2010 to improve the environmental performance and indoor environmental quality of Hong Kong buildings.
In 2010, the first version of BEAM Plus was officially launched, which was mainly targeted at new commercial buildings. In subsequent years, BEAM Plus has undergone multiple revisions and expansions to cover residential, renovation and other types of construction. With the release of BEAM Plus 2.0, the assessment of environmental impact has been further strengthened and a more detailed scoring mechanism has been introduced.
BEAM Plus is an assessment standard designed specifically for Hong Kong, so its roots and development are entirely based in Hong Kong. As an important economic and construction center in Asia, Hong Kong is widely recognized for its efforts in promoting sustainable construction. BEAM Plus, as a localized green building assessment system, can effectively address Hong Kong's unique environmental challenges, such as the urban heat island effect and air pollution.
BEAM Plus's assessment methodology is based on a series of specific indicators, which are divided into several main categories, including:
1. Sustainable Site: Evaluate the selection and management of building land and its impact on the surrounding environment.
2. Water Management: Promote the use of water-saving facilities and effective management of water resources.
3. Energy Use: Evaluate the energy efficiency of the building, including the application of renewable energy.
4. Indoor Environmental Quality: Focus on the design of indoor air quality, natural lighting and noise control.
5. Materials and Resources: Encourage the use of sustainable building materials and resource management.
6. Innovation: Encourage design innovation and the introduction of sustainable practices, and provide additional scoring opportunities.
With the global emphasis on sustainable development, BEAM Plus has gradually gained international recognition. Many Hong Kong construction projects have also achieved good reviews internationally. BEAM Plus, as a localized assessment standard, provides a reference for other countries and regions in promoting green buildings. Our HK Energy Audit can assist you with your target buildings Or apply for BEAM Plus certification for decoration design. Our BEAM Pro will follow up to evaluate and ensure that the applicant can successfully obtain the target level of BEAM Pro certification.
